چکیده

Quality metrics, within the field of laser range imaging, are used to quantify by how much some aspect of a measurement deviates from a predefined standard. Measurement quality evaluations are becoming increasingly important in laser range imaging for range image registration, merging measurements, and planning the next best view. Spatial uncertainty and resolution are the primary metrics of image quality; however, spatial uncertainty is affected by a variety of environmental factors. A review how contemporary researchers have attempted to quantify these environmental factors is presented, along with spatial uncertainty and resolution, resulting in a wide range of quality metrics. © 2008 SPIE and IS&T. Are new metrics pushing out traditional measurement tools of academic communications and scholarship?

Introduction: Universities are the centers of interactions and communications and a basic of scientific products and publications in the country. Scientific production and publications are surveyed and evaluated for various reasons. Evaluation criteria with regard to the location, type and circumstances are different and are occasionally changed and new. In this study, we survey the new metrics...

High Dynamic Range Imaging

High dynamic range (HDR) images and video contain pixels, which can represent much greater range of colors and brightness levels than that offered by existing, standard dynamic range images. Such “better pixels” greatly improve the overall quality of visual content, making it appear much more realistic and appealing to the audience. HDR is one of the key technologies of the future imaging pipel...

Use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Food Quality Control: A Review

Modern challenges of food science require a new understanding of the determinants of food quality and safety. Application of advanced imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has seen impressive successes and fast growth over the past decade. Since MRI does not have any harmful ionizing radiation, it can be considered as a magnificent tool for the quality control of food prod...

Image Quality Assessment of Tone Mapped Images

This paper proposes an objective assessment method for perceptual image quality of tone mapped images. Tone mapping algorithms are used to display high dynamic range (HDR) images onto standard display devices that have low dynamic range (LDR). The proposed method implements visual attention to define perceived structural distortion regions in LDR images, so that a reasonable measurement of dist...

Metrics and Evaluation Tools for Patient Engagement in Healthcare Organization- and System-Level Decision-Making: A Systematic Review

Background Patient, public, consumer, and community (P2C2) engagement in organization-, community-, and systemlevel healthcare decision-making is increasing globally, but its formal evaluation remains challenging. To define a taxonomy of possible P2C2 engagement metrics and compare existing evaluation tools against this taxonomy, we conducted a systematic review.   Methods A broad search strate...
